Derry, Northern Ireland

Derry was a really interesting town to learn about - 'the troubles' has had a big impact here and it was in the Bogside district (below with the murals) that the Bloody Sunday tragedy occurred in 1972.

Gaint's Causeway, Northern Ireland

These hexagonal rock formations were evidently made by the Irish giant Finn MacCool (according to legend) so that he could cross the sea to Scotland.

Carrick-a-Rede Ropebridge

This rope bridge near in County Antrim is 30m from the sea/rocks below (and quite windy), which is why Sarah couldn't wait to get off the damn thing!

Belfast, Northern Ireland

These photos were taken around the newly redeveloped Langan river / wier.

Belfast city centre with the City Hall and the Albert Memorial Clock tower, which is unfortunately leaning to the south. We were told however that it shouldn't fall over anytime soon.

A mural in the Catholic Falls Rd district - this is on the Sinn Fein hq building and is of Bobby Sands, an MP who died during the hunger strikes of 1981.

Dublin, Ireland

While not as visually interesting as some cities, there is plenty of history and atmosphere in Dublin (alng with god value for money with regards to weather - we got summer, winter and spring all in one day!). Enjoyed the pubs too, listening to some traditional irish music.

Sarah outside the Clarence Hotel, one of the more exclusive establishments in Dublin, all the more for being owned by Bono and The Edge. Sorry Sarah, a little out of our price range!

We'd a tour of the Guinness factory which finished off with a pint of... you guessed it.....

Trinity College, Dublin

Snowdonia National Park, Wales

After a rainy day the sun come out in the early evening (this seems to be happening to us alot on the trip!!!). Some amazing landscape in this national park with Mt Snowdon in the backgound.

Radiohead Concert

We had a pitstop from our trip last week so that Jeremy and I could go and see Radiohead. Such a good show! http://www.58hours.com/58_displayshow.php?showID=587 For those interested, they played quite a few new songs and most were really good - very promising for the new album coming out in a few months.

Punting, Cambridge

Had a great time punting, seeing the sights of Cambridge from the river Cam. Punting (instead of rowing, you use a big pole to push the boat along from the riverbed) is evidently quite difficult ...but we had someone take care of it for us while we relaxed. Posted by Picasa

Cambridge, England

We really enjoyed our stay in Cambridge. During a walking tour around the town, there were so many amazing sights pointed out ("this is where they discovered DNA, this is where they made the jet engine, this was until recently Steven Hawkings department, etc etc").
The photograph here is of Kings College chapel. We went to an evensong service here and heard the choir and organ which was great. Posted by Picasa
